Clemson University Retires C.J. Spiller’s #28

Clemson University retired C.J. Spiller’s number 28 during a halftime ceremony at last weekend’s game versus Maryland. At the ceremony Spiller announced a donation of $100,000 to the One Clemson Fund. It was great to see C.J. back in Clemson and you could tell his presence had an effect on the team. His replacement, Andre Ellington, even returned a kickoff for a touchdown reminding us of the many kickoff and punt returns C.J. scored on during his days.

Spiller holds 3 NCAA records, 4 ACC records and over 30 Clemson records. He graduated in 3 ½ years and as one of the most respected Clemson athletes of his generation. Spiller received a standing ovation from the Clemson Board of Trustees when he received his diploma. During the ceremony at halftime, the Clemson band spelled out his name which was pretty cool. C.J. even dotted the ‘i’ in his name to a standing ovation.
