Daniel Island’s Governors Park

If you’ve ever travelled on and off Daniel Island via Seven Farms Drive you’ve probably noticed a large open field that remains undeveloped while banks, shopping centers and some riverfront condos have gone up around it. That plot of land has always been designated to be a park.

Governors Park is planned to be a 35 acre park on that plot of land that will include soccer fields, baseball fields, walking trails, marsh boardwalks, picnic areas, restroom facilities, a stage, and more. Below is an early design of the park with I526 running horizontal on the bottom and the Wando River on the right. The second image is a Google Maps view of the land. Construction on the $3 million park was originally scheduled for April or May of this year. There doesn’t appear to be any progress at the moment, but hopefully they are still on schedule.
