Say it Ain’t So

The LPGA’s Ginn Tribute tournament may not return to RiverTowne Country Club next year. If this rumor pans out to be true, the reason is pretty simple. Putting on these types of tournaments isn’t cheap. Ginn is a real estate company at its core and with that industry currently in the shitter, execs are looking to trim some fat from the budget.

Although Golf World and Golf Digest are both reporting a murky future for the tournament at best, nothing is confirmed at the moment. Ginn is denying any formal announcement or cancellation but it seems it will only be a matter of time.

This is disheartening news. We get so few professional sporting events to come here to Charleston. It would be a shame to have to loose a quality one like this. I have enjoyed attending the tournament the last two years. As a big golf fan, it was so impressive watching these ladies manage their way around a course that I butchered both times I got to play there. Their skill, power, and finesse are a marvel to watch in person. And I’m also really upset I won’t get to see Paula Creamer and Natalie Gulbis in their sultry outfits in person anymore.
