Kudos to Detroit

I would be remiss if I didn’t make mention of the Detroit Red Wings winning the Stanley Cup on this hugely popular blog of mine. The Wings capped off a dominating regular season and playoff run with a gritty 3-2, game 6 win over the pesky Penguins from Pittsburgh last night.

Detroit was the best team during the regular season and playoffs, and their combination of veteran leadership and talented young forwards was too much for up and coming Penguins to handle. The Pens gave it their all and provided some much needed drama for the NHL with a triple overtime win in game 5 and a dramatic last second effort to tie the game last night.

This is Detroit’s 4th Stanley Cup in the last 11 years, coming as close to a modern day dynasty as we’ll ever see in this era of lockouts and salary caps. I’m certainly no Red Wing fan (Go Devils!)
but ya gotta give credit, where credit is due.
