Local Feel Good Story

A friend of mine who works at MUSC sent me this link to a fantastic, heart warming story about an Iraqi boy who was brought over to MUSC to receive life saving heart surgery. Maybe the local news reported on this when it happened back in April and I just missed it. I hope they did at least.

As a lieutenant in the Iraqi Police force, Hamad Muhammed risks his life everyday alongside U.S. Marines. Yet, there was little he could do to save his little boy from a life-threatening heart condition. This condition is treated through routine surgery in U.S. before a child’s first birthday. With the help of the U.S. Marines, Hamad Muhammed brought his five-year-old son Ammar all the way from Haditha, Iraq, for life-saving heart surgery at MUSC Children’s Hospital.

Wonderful story. There’s a great video to go with it. Check it out.
