This photo was taken on August 19 inside the eye of Hurricane Bill from the Hurricane Hunter aircraft. The picture was snapped by Jack Parrish who is the Flight Director of the NOAA’s Aircraft Operations Center. The plane was flying at 10,000 feet at the time. The tops of the clouds of the eyewall reach upwards of 55,000 feet. This was posted on Dr. Jeff Masters’ WunderBlog. If you have an interest in the weather, I could not recommend viewing his blog enough.
