The lovely ladies of the LPGA Tour are coming to Charleston at the end of May for the Ginn Tribute. This is an official LPGA Tour event and will be held at Rivertowne Country Club in Mt. Pleasant from May 26 – June 1.
One of the minor drawbacks from living here in Charleston is the lack of high-quality professional sporting events in the area. I grew up 45 minutes outside of New York City and we had the option to go see two NHL teams, two Major League Baseball teams, two NBA teams, two NFL teams and all kinds of other professional sporting events that would frequent the area. We have no such professional teams here in Charleston. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Riverdogs and Sting Rays, but it just can’t compete with a game at Yankee Stadium or the Prudential Center.
So when a professional event such as The Ginn Tribute comes to our town, I recommend you take advantage. I’ve been to the Family Circle Cup tournament a few times and I’m not a huge tennis fan but can appreciate and enjoy the effort and talent those ladies exude. I attended to the AVP (volleyball) tournament last year and it will be back again this year. I also went down to Hilton Head earlier this month for the PGA Tour’s Verizon Heritage at Harbor Town.
Tickets are cheap ($20) and it should be a great event as the best lady golfers in the world will be there. Even if you don’t enjoy golf, you’ll still enjoy something about watching the event live and the course is absolutely beautiful with a few holes offering breathtaking vistas of the Wando River.
Oh, and if are still stuck in the past and think lady golfers are man-like lesbians with little appeal or charisma to us superficial males, check out a few of my favorite lady pros below or view the ‘official’ list of the 50 Hottest Female Golfers. Don’t let the cute outfits fool you, these ladies are the real deal and some of the best in the world.
